Haunt, Taunt, Flaunt

Have you ever had a painting haunt you? It hasn't happened too often for me, but this painting idea has been stuck in my head for over 3 years now appearing like a demanding apparition. In those three years it has changed almost as much as my young son. Now its time has come. Now I am ready to take it on...

I'm still working on a title (you think in three years something would have come to me by now - but this has been a particularly visual haunt). Here's the start:

Work in progress, oil on panel, 64" x 48"

 detail, oil on panel, 64" x 48"

First day into color (detail).

  3. Oh, wow, this is going to be good. Now I see that the oil sketch you did is for the background. Can't wait to see it finished!

  5. Alia, I'm so looking forward to seeing this one unfold. I frequently don't get to a painting for a few years, but the ones that stick like this one are the ones worth doing!

  6. Thank you ALL for your thoughtful comments. I have had sporadic time this week to get into this painting because I am the Visiting Artist at a local school. But the times that I have had to paint have been amazing. This thing is just gushing out of me. There's no work to it. I step back after just a few hours of work and I'm amazed at how much I've gotten done. Its such a wonderful experience, larger than myself. I am taking progress shots and will share them soon.
